Wedding – Jeanette and Glen

Jeanette has been a family friend of ours since I can remember.  Her mom and my mom are best friends and have been since college.  Her sisters and mine have known each other since the day we were born.  Although we do not live close to each other any more we still remain very close, so when ever we do see each other it’s like no time has ever passed.  Jeanette and her sisters are the most beautiful ladies I have ever known, inside and out!

After 8 or so years of dating Jeanette and Glen got married.  It was so exciting to be the makeup artist of her wedding and I had the honor of being invited to one of the best weddings that I have ever been to! I am so happy that they finally tied the knot because they truly are a match made in heaven!

Hair:  Jeanette’s hair was done by her sister, Jackie, who is a great hair stylist in Newport Beach, CA.  She has been our hair go to person of the family.  She has been doing hair ever since we can all remember and she captured Jeanette’s vision perfectly… Old Hollywood!

Makeup:  When Jeanette told me that she wanted to have an old Hollywood look, I immediately knew what I wanted to do.  I knew that I wanted to play up her eyes and her lips, many people think that this may be breaking the rules but when it is done correctly you get glam!  So for her eyes we stayed with matte shades which included a bone/ beige, neutral brown and a dark brown/ black eyeshadow.  Then we did a nice thick cat eye line for her eyeliner — with liquid liner of course. For her skin we did a cream foundation to add a supple look to the skin but made it feel like she has nothing on, I then set it with a matte powder to make it look flawless.  For the lips we did a mahogany red to go with the entire theme of the wedding.

Nicole Broch Alvarez

Nicole Broch now known as Mrs. Nicole Broch Alvarez booked me all the way from NYC.  She is originally from the bay area and she moved to New York (I’m jealous) to be with her fiance. We met a few weeks before her wedding and she was such a delight to work with, she is spunky and full of personality.  I swear she is the cutest little thing I have ever seen.  I am so glad that I got to share her special day with her and I can now take away her friendship with this experience.

Along with Nicole I had the privilege to do her bridesmaids and her mother.  

Hair:  Nicole has a head of the most gorgeous, thick curls so for her wedding day she wanted to keep it that way, just more perfected.  So we set her curls and tamed down any frizz.  To anchor her veil we placed a few pieces of her hair up with her grandmother’s beautiful jeweled hair piece.

Makeup:  Nicole is a natural beauty so we just wanted to get her camera ready.  She has amazing skin so we just perfected it with a light foundation and set with translucent powder to hold it in place.  We added a pink/ peach cream blush to her cheeks so that it would give her a nice slightly flushed look.  For her eyes we went with neutral, champagne shade and contoured with deep plum. To define her eyes we did a fine line of black liquid eyeliner and finished the look off with natural false lashes. For the finishing touch we gave her pink lips with a natural gloss.

Stefani’s Wedding in Sonoma

I met Stefani through one of my friends who happens to do hair.  Rain thought of the fabulous idea for us to work together on her wedding day. Not only was Rain nice enough for the referral but she was so generous to introduce me to Stefani who is a great person.  She has the best personality, so bubbly, great sense of humor and so smart.  It definitely was a fun day in Sonoma Wine County!

Hair by Rain

Stefani wanted a classic chingon, so Rain made a beautiful creation and put fresh flowers on one side. Besides being a great hair stylist Rain (who just so happens to do my hair) is also one of the most artistic people that I know — art just comes naturally to her.

Makeup

Stefani’s skin is amazing, it was identical to a porcelain doll.  For Stefani’s eyes we decide to stick to warmer tones that included plums incorporated with browns.  Since her skin was so flawless we decided to add a nice dewy cream blush to her cheeks with just a little bit of highlighter to compliment her cheekbones.  To add some dimension and bring out her features we used a powder that was just a few shades darker then her skintone so that she would not look too orange as it can on some people who use bronzing powder.  To finish the look we used a longwearing lipstick in a pinky mauve that lasted all day long.

Aileen

Aileen = Wonder Woman.  This lovely lady managed to plan her wedding in less than three months!!! She was referred to me by her friend Owen who styled her entire wedding.  He is an absolute genius at what he does.  He styles, does photography, and can manage to do both hair & makeup when necessary.  

Mrs. Christine Cathcart

OK… so I know that I say that everyone was a pleasure to work with but I guess that I am just one lucky lady.  I can honestly say that I love every single one of my clients and they truly are the best!  But I would have to say that Christine and her MOH Rachel were the funniest of them all.  They kept me laughing the entire time and we had jams playing in the background.  I wish her the very best in married life and I cannot wait to be her personal makeup artist when she makes it big!

Aida – May 2008

Aida had an amazing wedding at a vineyard in Livermore, CA.  That day had the best weather ever.  It was at least 80 degrees and the sun was shining perfectly.  The colors of Aida’s wedding went perfect with everything and she had this glow to her that was unachievable by any makeup product.  She was truly a pleasure to work with.

2009

After the end of a great year it is time to kick off 2009.  I would have to say that it is off to an amazing start, I am finally getting the hang of things at my new job and finally figuring out a schedule to be able to take on the wedding season.  Even though times is hard it is great to see that there are still so many people tying the knot!  One of my best friends even got engaged during this past holiday season (Congrats Jenn!) and they are getting married in 2010.  So with that being said 2009 is filling up extremely fast and I would love to help everyone out please feel free to inquire anytime and see if your wedding date is still available for hair and makeup!

Trial Sessions

Here are a few trial session that I have been doing for the past month.  It has been extremely busy for me and this is why I have not had a chance to update my blog.  I have definitely met some wonderful ladies along the way.

Nancy wanted something that looked very natural and romantic so we decided to do very minimal makeup and have her hair off to the side with romantic curls.  I do believe she is going to add some flowers to balance the do.

Aileen was looking for something more bronzy and peachy for

the makeup. Then for her hair she wanted a more 

tousled look.  She was an absolute pleasure to work with,

on a day to day basis she does not wear any makeup and she 

completely trusted me to work my magic.

Sarah never wear any makeup. She wanted something 

that even out her skin tone for photos and did not want 

anything that looked too much. She was an absolute doll, 

when I mean that she never wears makeup I mean she said to 

me when I was putting on mascara, 

“You do this to yourself everyday?” It was so cute she though it 

was like some form of torture.  

She doesn’t even need makeup she is so beautiful.

Stefani was completely open minded to what she wanted

on her wedding so I started off by asking her questions about 

her daily routine. After finding out what she wears on a day to day 

basis, what color scheme she was going for, etc. I can up 

with something that will definitely look beautiful on her wedding day.  

My friend Rain is doing her hair and I am sure when it all comes together 

it will be beautiful!!! (ps: She has the same dog that I do, this

fun and loving malti-poo named Bella!)

Jenn’s Wedding

This is the most recent wedding that I did, her name was Jenn Hamilton and she booked me all the way from Florida. Her wedding day was the first time that we met but she completely put her trust in me and was extremely happy with the results. She was so beautiful and made my job so easy. I cannot express enough what a pleasure Jenn was to work with, she was so excited and calm, she also made me feel like we can definitely be friends after this. Her husband is one lucky man!!
